<div dir="ltr">Several years ago, when funding was threatened, we sent a letter to explain that contract payment might be delayed or canceled (our contract had a clause making the receipt of funding a requirement to fulfilling the contract). The federal government
was closed for a few days and when it came back, we were authorized to continue payments. I don’t know all the details, but either your fiscal department or your LSTA officer should be able to help. I do remember that we had to notify everyone that we couldn’t
pay for services or programs while the government was closed. Then, after they came back, they authorized payment for the period retroactively. <span></span></div>

<p class="x_x_MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">I’m interested in knowing how other states plan ahead for potential lapses in federal funding, particularly when it comes to paying for statewide databases. In Oklahoma,
due to state purchasing rules, we pay for our statewide databases quarterly in arrears. However, this can be difficult to do if there is a federal shut-down and we are unable to draw down funds for the payment.
