<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Last year we were contemplating cancelling our statewide databases in New York because it was no longer affordable with our other LSTA expenses. The schools were especially vocal about cancelling.
We discussed various models (cost-sharing, having a regional library system act as the fiscal agent—for all of the choices we were still going to manage the program at least for the first year) but no one was willing to help pay for the databases. Somehow,
we were able to secure state funding (which we had tried many times during the 20+-year pilot project!). That started last July. We received a little extra money so we were able to add databases. It is in the budget again this year but we have to wait for
the budget to be passed to be sure that it will be funded again. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">I would also be interested in what other states are doing.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
