The Board of Directors for CASA of Marion County (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is seeking an Executive Director who will be responsible for effective and efficient management of all functional areas of child advocates, including planning, finance, marketing, fund-raising and development, personnel, service delivery and infrastructure. In addition, the Executive Director is responsible for overall management of the program and all aspects of the program’s operations including direct supervision of volunteers, their training and quality of their advocacy. This primarily involves the development and coordination of a volunteer service program which provides CASA services to abused and neglected children. Key to these efforts is the building of funding revenues over the next 2 years and growing the program to better meet the needs of the children.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
EDUCATION: Minimum Bachelor degree in a social science, business, or related field; or equivalent experience.
BACKGROUND: Must pass criminal background check with results indicating nothing that will pose a risk to children, volunteers, staff or the program’s credibility.
LICENSES: Position requires valid driver's license for the state of residence, proof of personal auto insurance and an acceptable driving record.
EXPERIENCE: Two or more years in an executive, upper management, or operations leadership position of an organization with collateral experience with fundraising events and/or donor development. Candidates will demonstrate strong skills in fiscal management, resource development with sustainability, program planning, and public relations. Previous experience working with volunteers and knowledge and understanding of juvenile law, child abuse and neglect, families in crisis, and other social services skills are given priority. At least 6 months experience as a CASA volunteer or an advanced understanding of the essential functions of a CASA organization is preferred. If not a previous CASA volunteer, must complete New Volunteer training during first six months of hire.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Make decisions within broad interpretations of applicable standards, government and judicial rules and regulations, organizational policies, and the requirements of this job description. Work involves complex and diverse tasks and situations, as well as routine administrative tasks. Candidates will demonstrate strong skills in fiscal management, resource development with maintenance, program planning, and public relations. Work is reviewed by the Executive Committee of the Board and secondarily by other Board members.
