Online Video Series Addresses Child Maltreatment

This train the trainer opportunity is based on the "Did You Know Your Relationship Affects Your Health? A Train the Trainers Curriculum on Addressing Intimate Partner Violence, Reproductive and Sexual Coercion." The training is open to health care providers and domestic violence advocates. Participants will leave this training with the necessary information, tools and materials to begin training other health care providers in their community on how to assess and respond to intimate partner violence, reproductive and sexual coercion using an evidence-based intervention.
This training is FREE! Space is limited to 24 spots. Preference will be given to health care providers and domestic violence advocates who come in partnership. Some scholarships will be available to those traveling more than 60 miles outside of Portland.
The expectations:
* Participants are expected to take this information back to their community and to train their colleagues. Don't worry, we will help you with this!
* Participants are expected to sign a letter of commitment stating they will provide at least one training within six months of their own training as a trainer.
* Participants are expected to come to the training already familiar with the Futures Without Violence screening card "Did You Know Your Relationship Affects Your Health". Not familiar with this screening card? Not to worry, these materials are available to review ahead of time.
* Participants are strongly encouraged to attend this training with a partner. The recommended partner pairing is a health care provider and a domestic violence advocate. Training partners will become the "training team" for their own community.

Our next quarterly Crime Victims' Compensation Program (CVCP) training and Address Confidentiality Program (ACP) training is scheduled for Wednesday, May 13, 2015. Please see the attached agenda.
The free trainings are held at the Crime Victims' Services Division in Salem at 4035 12th St Cutoff SE, 97302. We do ask those attending from the same agency/program to carpool due to limited parking.
For those interested in becoming ACP Application Assistants, please note there is a requirement of at least 40 hours of DV and/or SA training.

Law Enforcement Training on Child Exploitation
[ICAC Task Force]The OJJDP-funded Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force Program<http://ojjdp.gov/programs/ProgSummary.asp?pi=3> will provide the "2015 National Law Enforcement Training on Child Exploitation" on June 2-4, 2015, in Atlanta, GA. This conference will offer free training to law enforcement on combatting technology-facilitated crimes against children.

The Western Regional Children's Advocacy Center is hosting a Corroborating the Forensic Interview Training June 16-17 in Vancouver, Washington. This training is intended for MDT partners who work closely with a CAIC (this is a requirement for registration) such as prosecutors and detectives who investigate child abuse in association with CAIC interviews. I attended a one day version of this training at the Child Abuse Summit and the trainers were top notch. Please see the attached flyer for more information.

Washington County District Attorney's Office is recruiting for a Victim Assistance Specialist #2015-93- $26.20/hour. Apply by May 1st, 2015. 2 Positions: Bilingual Spanish/English & Restitution
The District Attorney's Office has two rewarding career opportunities available to join a dynamic and passionate group of Victim Assistance Specialists and a cadre of volunteers to advocate for victims of all types of crimes. This recruitment is underway to create a pool of candidates eligible for two (2) vacancies in the District Attorney's Office. This recruitment may also be used to fill future Victim Assistance Specialist vacancies.
1. Restitution & General Advocacy (1 position - 40 hours per week)
This Victim Assistance Specialist will support and aid victims by investigating and processing restitution requests as well as coordinating with community agencies to hold offenders accountable in paying restitution to victims. The advocate will work with management and community partners to develop and implement a Restitution Court in Washington County. The successful candidate will provide victim-centered services in her/his role in Restitution Court and in managing a small general caseload as a victim advocate.
1. General Advocacy - Bilingual: Spanish/English (1 position - 30 hours per week)
This Victim Assistance Specialist will provide assistance to victims in felony and misdemeanor cases in Washington County. This position is designated Bilingual (English/Spanish). Successful applicants must possess the ability to speak, read, write, and translate fluently from Spanish into English and English into Spanish.
NOTE: The General Advocacy - Bilingual position is currently budgeted for 30 hours per week. Applicants should be aware this position is under consideration for increasing to (1.0 FTE) 40 hours per week as of July 1, 2015.
