Greetings MDT Members and CAIC Directors.

Please see below for important information regarding a survey to help develop funding priorities for the significant increase in VOCA funding expected in 2015. Please take the time to speak with your staff and complete the survey so that the needs of those providing services to child victims are heard loud and clear.

Best,

Subject: [cvsd-grants] ACTION REQUESTED: VOCA Funding Survey

Dear Oregon Victim Service Providers:

It is expected that VOCA's 2015 allocation will be significantly more than we have ever seen due to the increase in the VOCA cap from $745M to $2.36B. Oregon's allocation may be three times as much as we have traditionally received, however, we do not have any new information at this time regarding specific numbers. In addition to an allocation increase CVSD received news last week regarding new funding for training. OVC believes the funding increase will drive an increased need for training and technical assistance. OVC expects that it will award a non-competitive discretionary grant to each State and territory that is eligible to receive a VOCA victim assistance formula grant. The formula projection for Oregon is $323,629. CVSD anticipates applying for these training dollars.

With that said, it is very important that we start looking at how the state can most effectively use these increases. What we are interested in learning through this survey is where the priorities are in victim services, the needs in your community and the ideas you have to provide services to victims in your areas of expertise.

As you respond to the survey questions, please keep in mind the overall VOCA purpose of direct service along with other guidelines for the use of VOCA funding. I have attached a link to the VOCA webpage as a reference: http://www.doj.state.or.us/victims/pages/voca.aspx. Several agencies replied to a survey distributed by the National Association of Victim Assistance Administrators (NAVAA) about a year or so ago. I have attached a summary of all responses, including Oregon, for your reference.

We realize you complete a lot of surveys but we would appreciate one survey response from your agency. Please click on the link below to complete the survey. If you are receiving this message and you are not a grantee, we would like to hear from you as well. We want the survey to circulate as broadly as possible, so please forward the survey link to your partner organizations/agencies.

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration in responding to this survey. Your feedback is very important as we move forward in building and enhancing systems and programs in support of Oregon's response to survivors and victims.
