Homeless and at-risk youth are likely eligible for health-care coverage, expanded under the Affordable Care Act. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services released the new factsheet, Health Coverage for Homeless and At-Risk Youth, that explores eligibility for health-care coverage for this vulnerable population. Among the coverage options explored are Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program for youth experiencing or at risk of homelessness. The factsheet provides information on subpopulations of youth who are likely eligible for health-care coverage, which services are covered, and enrollment processes.

ACF: Runaway Prevention/Intervention
The Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families (ACF) and its Family & Youth Services Bureau has just launched a series of videos to highlight the importance of runaway prevention/intervention. Runaway/homeless youth are at high-risk of becoming victims of human trafficking. The FYSB hopes the videos/PSA’s can create awareness about the resources available to young people (before running away). Also, the National Runaway Safeline provides crisis intervention and connects youth with resources when they are on the streets. In addition, FYSB released the findings of the Street Outreach Program data collection study, which reveals that almost one-quarter of participants (24.1%) said that they had “agreed to be sexual” with someone in exchange for money, and 27.5 percent had “agreed to be sexual” with someone in exchange for a place to spend the night. Survival sex – which is domestic sex trafficking- is still a major issue among runaway/homeless youth.  You can access these excellent resources at ;
