MDT Day 2016!
Attached please find the MDT Day 2016 registration and speaker information. MDT Day is Monday, April 18th at the Red Lion Janzen Beach from 1 pm to 5:30 pm. We are really excited about this year's speakers, and we hope you will be too! The speakers' bios are attached, but many of you will already be familiar with this year's speakers: Meg Garvin, MA, JD, Executive Director of the National Crime Victims' Law Institute; Kim Jacobowitz, LCSW, VOCA funded trauma informed counselor at CARES Northwest; and Cory Jewell Jensen, MS, CBI Consulting, sex offender evaluator and treatment provider.
We hope that the half day schedule will allow those who are restricted from traveling on Sunday to be able to attend this year. Sunday night lodging reimbursement is, however, still available for those who choose to travel on Sunday (as in past years, the CAMI program will reimburse one night's lodging-Sunday or Monday, for those traveling more than 75 miles one way). Hotel, mileage and other details are included in the attached registration form.
Registration deadline is April 4th. (Hotel reservations must be made by March 28th to ensure the conference rate). If you have questions, please call Alisha Goodwin at 503-328-6270.

Advancing Equity & Inclusion in Our Daily Work
PRESENTER: Cliff Jones. Senior Consultant, Nonprofit Association of Oregon
Equity and inclusion are both a moral imperative and good for nonprofit business and our society. Nonprofits are stronger when every board and staff member takes action in this direction. In this workshop you will explore inclusion and equity from the individual, group and system levels. Participants will also learn how to develop the basic knowledge, skills, attitude, and behavioral needs to support and lead equity and inclusion work within their nonprofit. This training is a primer for board and staff who are new to equity and inclusion and for more experienced board and staff members. Each person will be invited to assess their current capacity and use the training to gain new insights and set new goals.

I highly recommend that all fatality review team members read the Commission's report. The report is the result of extensive research of state practices (including Oregon's) and provides recommendations for changes to fatality review nationally.
The Commission to Eliminate Child Abuse and Neglect Fatalities (CECANF) has released their final report, Within Our Reach: A National Strategy to Eliminate Child Abuse and Neglect Fatalities.
This final report from the Commission to Eliminate Child Abuse and Neglect Fatalities presents the Commission's findings and its recommendations to the White House and Congress for ending child maltreatment fatalities in the United States within the context of a new child welfare system for the 21st century.

New NCCD Request for Interest: Cross-Systems Data-Sharing and Transparency Project to Reduce Juvenile Justice System Involvement
NCCD is developing a project that will bring together school districts, child welfare agencies, and juvenile justice systems to identify young people at high risk of justice system involvement and bridge system coordination gaps to create targeted, multi-system interventions to help these young people transition successfully into adulthood.
In partnership with the Laura and John Arnold Foundation<http://tracking.etapestry.com/t/31590063/1236193179/70290951/0/64819/>, NCCD will select two sites for this project. NCCD will engage with the selected sites' social service agencies, including the school district, the local child protection agency, and the local juvenile justice system, and combine their data to gain a better understanding of system-involved young people and their pathways into the juvenile justice system.
The effort will enable the identification of at-risk and dually involved young people and allow the systems that serve them to coordinate interventions and provide targeted continuum-of-care services. By enabling communities to collaboratively and appropriately allocate specific resources to the young people who need it most, jurisdictions will have a greater impact on meeting the needs of vulnerable young people.
NCCD is accepting letters of interest submitted by eligible state, local, or tribal government entities who wish to engage in collaborative data-sharing and analytic efforts to prevent juvenile justice system involvement and provide better outcomes for young people, particularly young people of color.
Click here<http://tracking.etapestry.com/t/31590063/1236193179/70465717/0/64819/> for a full description of key project activities, eligibility requirements, services, and more.
Jurisdictions with interest in this project may submit a letter of interest by March 25, 2016.
