Attention Grantees!

The January - March quarter has officially ended. Please keep in mind due dates coming up for reports including Financial Reports and Progress Reports. As our fiscal year draws to a close, all reports are due by July 20, 2017, please pay special attention to any reports you have that may be past due. We do not process financial reports until all other reports (including past due reports) are submitted.

Also, now is a great time to check if your staff is up to date in E-grants.  If you need to do an update, please submit a modification request once you have submitted your financial and progress reports.

More Than 1,000 Suspected Child Predators Arrested During Operation Broken Heart
The Department of Justice has announced<https://n1.m.tt/a/ydpbbfzmmp-rrwnlree.html?mp_hash=B12C204DE26CFC7773B12966A34BE628E9DBAB8F9375C60FCDB88302D58B55E8> that the recently concluded Operation Broken Heart led to the arrest of more than 1,000 suspected child predators from more than 40 states. The OJJDP-funded Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Forces<https://n1.m.tt/a/ydpbbfzmmv-rrwnlree.html?mp_hash=B12C204DE26CFC7773B12966A34BE628E9DBAB8F9375C60FCDB88302D58B55E8> conducted this operation during April and May 2017 as a coordinated investigation to identify and arrest suspected child sexual predators. OJJDP launched the ICAC Task Force Program in 1998 to help federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies enhance their investigative responses to individuals who use the Internet, online communication systems, or computer technology to exploit children.

[Learning Opportunities]



The Oregon Network of Child Abuse Intervention Centers is now accepting applications for Project Ability.

Space is Still Available in Eugene and ONCAIC is still accepting applications!

This is a one day training focusing specifically on interviewing children with disabilities.  The training is open to professionals who interview children and have completed OCFIT. There are two dates scheduled for this summer: July 13th in Eugene and August 17th in Wilsonville. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis with a limit of two applications per office or agency for each training date. The Family Violence Coordinating Council (FVCC) Training Committee presents their free monthly training for those who work with survivors of domestic violence or have interest in the subject matter. The next training is:

Safer Together:
supporting children and their
parents in safety planning

 Tuesday, July 18th

Description:

In this training, they will explore safety planning between children and their safe parents. They will take a look at some of the major issues and questions around this topic, as well as discuss strategies on how to facilitate this process between a child and their safe parent/guardian. They will consider how age, development and trauma can impact these questions, as well.

This webinar will examine and define "consent" in the context of sexual assault prevention and sex education. The focus of the webinar will be on the need to establish healthy boundaries, build healthy relationships, and promote human dignity. Law enforcement, social workers, forensic interviewers, sexual assault nurse examiners, victim advocates, juvenile court personnel, prosecutors, and other child serving professionals are encouraged to attend.
