MDT Information from CVSSD

Remote MDT Meetings
As MDTs look for ways to continue to collaborate during the current crisis, many are considering hosting remote meetings. If you are looking for resources on this topic, CVSSD has provided some information that may be helpful for you, including this document<https://www.doj.state.or.us/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Considerations_for_Hosting_Remote_MDT_Meetings.pdf> which summarizes some considerations for hosting remote MDT meetings. The below Q&A is excerpted from the Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Grant Fund Allowances in the Response to COVID-19 which we are updating regularly and which can be found here<https://www.doj.state.or.us/crime-victims/for-grantees/covid-19-updates/>. The FAQ also includes a link to our resources page where you can find more information on working and meeting remotely.

Can we use a video conferencing platform to hold remote multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings?
Yes, as long as the platform you choose and your team’s practices related to protecting victim information are VOCA compliant. This means that the platform and your process protect victims’ confidentiality (the same requirement that applies to in person MDT meetings). There are resources available to help you select a platform or evaluate whether the platform you use adequately protects victim information. Please follow this link for more information and tools. For information on VOCA confidentiality and personally identifying information requirements, please refer to pages 18-19 of the VOCA Grantee Handbook. Remember to also consider lower tech options for meetings, such as telephone conferences and encrypted emails.

Office of Justice Programs' Blog Discusses Children’s Advocacy Centers

The Office of Justice Programs has posted a new blog<https://www.ojp.gov/news/ojp-blogs/2020-ojp-blogs/childrens-advocacy-centers?utm_campaign=child-abuse&utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery> discussing Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs) in recognition of National Child Abuse Prevention Month<https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/proclamation-national-child-abuse-prevention-month-2019?utm_campaign=child-abuse&utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery>. Children's Advocacy Centers coordinate the investigation, treatment, and prosecution of child abuse cases nationwide. The blog discusses OJJDP’s funding of training and technical assistance through four regional CACs that support state chapters and local centers. OJJDP also funds the National Children’s Alliance<https://www.nationalchildrensalliance.org/?utm_campaign=child-abuse&utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery>, which provides national leadership to support local centers. The blog details the mission of the National Children’s Advocacy Center<https://www.nationalcac.org/?utm_campaign=child-abuse&utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery>—a model for more than 1,000 CACs nationwide—and the CACs response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
