You are among our most trusted supporters as we fight to protect and heal Oregon children impacted by child abuse. We hope you and your loved ones are healthy and safe!

COVID-19 Response Updates
Our team has acted urgently to support our network of Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs) as they adapt to a rapidly changing landscape. CACs are "essential" health services, and children needing urgent child abuse assessment can't wait. All CAC facilities, staff, and partners have followed public health guidelines to limit the spread of COVID-19.

Steps we've taken include:
·    Advocating for state emergency investments to fill CAC funding gaps<http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001BpfeAOSFh28WeSWZbkN8y3SGJiTOtCZnxVO8WDnrQpHDlGR0iNqa9fnGmMFdQUabwGubnC3qXv9SC1UCkWsSxct8pA45rdGPPkBoYSClEVxJ3qfXVJ6SzN_TPnIWkDqDl-A9hfXYI2vntOuxanoD-IM6uVodLxmm0S4hZuYDf4bW1ohU40VPF0uS8hTPMZAzxis7noj3wSRc4lKhey4C9HUh52RtH7Qi1T3zNvwiVMY=&c=32ZlNGGPguE_B5UW7UR1ZgVIcwylCSem1_t-8yA96hGFJQwT7FFJtA==&ch=DzCqVY99pm9qzbVeaPR8ItUeINspBzP0Wn0jxwC3zDB4U72eAckhHw==>;
·    Leading learning communities for CACs to share solutions to challenges, such as remote interviewing and tele-health services;
·    Serving as an information conduit regarding federal stimulus funds;
·    Securing funding to update the Oregon Interviewing Guidelines<http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001BpfeAOSFh28WeSWZbkN8y3SGJiTOtCZnxVO8WDnrQpHDlGR0iNqa9fnGmMFdQUab0IUzBn_1Y2a_IYHl8KXZP7mD3hqA8IZhbEvg_XCB6CkMarm4BSi3Ayx20bFr6qQ-HdizCX2Zoxeq07tKZKbmYVb5uGfnyo3mgck1OUf6nISC8DRDy2V4OIBggqx9MySaom6B3_LR97D83XA_32HW5JDfVFQ5lEmXG3MbVFYPffA=&c=32ZlNGGPguE_B5UW7UR1ZgVIcwylCSem1_t-8yA96hGFJQwT7FFJtA==&ch=DzCqVY99pm9qzbVeaPR8ItUeINspBzP0Wn0jxwC3zDB4U72eAckhHw==>, so that all children will receive high-quality, trauma-informed services when talking about their experiences;

It's no secret that the risk for child abuse rises as children and families are isolated at home. Fortunately, we're seeing unprecedented interest by major media partners willing to report on the facts and risks. We hope increased awareness and urgency will result in increased state investment in CACs.

Office of Justice Programs Recognizes Child Abuse Prevention Month

The Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs (OJP) joins communities nationwide in observing Child Abuse Prevention Month<https://lnks.gd/l/eyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJidWxsZXRpbl9saW5rX2lkIjoxMDQsInVyaSI6ImJwMjpjbGljayIsImJ1bGxldGluX2lkIjoiMjAyMDA0MjkuMjA3OTU5MzEiLCJ1cmwiOiJodHRwczovL3d3dy53aGl0ZWhvdXNlLmdvdi9wcmVzaWRlbnRpYWwtYWN0aW9ucy9wcm9jbGFtYXRpb24tbmF0aW9uYWwtY2hpbGQtYWJ1c2UtcHJldmVudGlvbi1tb250aC0yMDIwLz91dG1fY2FtcGFpZ249Y2hpbGQtYWJ1c2UmdXRtX21lZGl1bT1lbWFpbCZ1dG1fc291cmNlPWdvdmRlbGl2ZXJ5In0.aVPIC9ia7P8uq7m_t98f30i4q_N5b44iKlfJb527QGk/br/77986870171-l>.

“Child maltreatment is pervasive and happens in many ways, from neglect, physical and sexual abuse to online exploitation, sex trafficking and the damage wrought by America’s addiction crisis,” said OJP Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Katharine T. Sullivan.

The Department of Justice is investing significantly in the fight against child abuse. Last year, OJP awarded more than $143 million to support programs to protect children, including more than $20 million for OJJDP-supported Children’s Advocacy Centers<https://lnks.gd/l/eyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJidWxsZXRpbl9saW5rX2lkIjoxMDUsInVyaSI6ImJwMjpjbGljayIsImJ1bGxldGluX2lkIjoiMjAyMDA0MjkuMjA3OTU5MzEiLCJ1cmwiOiJodHRwczovL29qamRwLm9qcC5nb3YvcHJvZ3JhbXMvY2hpbGRyZW5zLWFkdm9jYWN5LWNlbnRlcnM_dXRtX2NhbXBhaWduPWNoaWxkLWFidXNlJnV0bV9tZWRpdW09ZW1haWwmdXRtX3NvdXJjZT1nb3ZkZWxpdmVyeSJ9.cmdN9mv-7C5l0Nz_-2E1GnCNRw73qcZYcANcXnVSxAo/br/77986870171-l>.
