Introducing a self-paced virtual training opportunity designed for team facilitators and their managers
Southern Regional Children's Advocacy Center (SRCAC) is launching "Cultivating the Role of Team Facilitator" as a self-paced online course facilitated by SRCAC Senior Program Manager Greg Flett. This training, recorded virtually over two days in 2020, is now available through the National Children's Advocacy Center's Virtual Training Center (VTC). This 5.75-hour course includes 10 modules covering topics such as "Why MDTs Take Work," "Supervision and Support for Team Facilitators," "Building and Sustaining a Positive Climate," and "Rethinking Case Review."
Begin the Course<http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001wlfZwuk7SqVx33R7FZEITdViCOntpcV4XD4HR_eh5Tprm9QF86U_nweIkCWNRqPnh6SckgVmtXuUxXPCHe5_Q4PNJKYH03fiESxoUaAyPaI17-R91RRVcsuRGnCIR8Xe4iqhitw94w-0V1WDq39Vp8iK4gts36Nkibjt2k6osG6H-7FKuuikJ-IsR9nT2Psbw2u3-LLptH_1MSkozy9iK8N-ouiELeMI&c=XE03v6fwPm_aC2cQxrYvz3WOdPbB_kSHmIL0y8WaJcoS06WwuKK3oQ==&ch=a2Oq1oCepsSzIWRLeyTgGsfdpXAAnqHos8gGfSnP5PluqyaAUWRUbg==>
What is "Cultivating the Role of Team Facilitator"?
This training is intended to support current facilitators and their managers in understanding, developing, and sustaining the role of a team facilitator. Participants will explore the intricacies of the position and learn how to make it a valuable asset to any MDT.
This training was offered virtually in 2020 and recorded with a live audience. The resulting recording has been modified and edited to now be viewed as a self-paced virtual training.
Who is this course designed for?
This training is designed for new and existing MDT facilitators, as well as CAC leaders looking to grow this role. Ideally, team facilitators will participate in this training with their managers/directors as the information is relevant for both. But anyone who is interested in cultivating this role within their organization is encouraged to participate.
What's the format?
This training is comprised of 10 consecutive modules and corresponding resources. Each module must be completed before the next becomes available. Participants can re-watch previous modules.
How do I access it?
Access to the NCAC's Virtual Training Center (VTC) is free for CACs, though you will need to create an account if you do not have one already.

2021/2022 Prevention Resource Guide Preorder Information
The preorder for the new 2021/2022 Prevention Resource Guide: Thriving Children & Families is now available. We’re pleased to make available a guide that continues to be rooted in the protective factors but now brings to the forefront how families, neighborhoods, communities, and States are successfully using them to protect children, strengthen families, and promote well-being.
What’s New
* Social-ecological model. This year’s Resource Guide expands upon the tradition of addressing prevention from the perspective of a social-ecological model. This approach acknowledges that there are many factors beyond the individual child and family that affect caregivers’ ability to nurture and protect their children.
* New program examples. Throughout the guide, you will find an array of examples from numerous Federal partners, Community-Based Child Abuse Prevention (CBCAP) State lead agencies, communities, and others achieving real change for children and families.
* Conversation guides. New interactive guides replace the tip sheets found in previous editions of the Resource Guide and help users engage parents and caregivers in more personalized conversations about how they care for their children and themselves to create a stronger, more resilient family. Each guide is available in English and Spanish and targets one of the six protective factors.
GUIDELINES FOR ORDERING THE RESOURCE GUIDE
The Resource Guide is a wonderful tool to use one-on-one or in group settings—both in-person and virtually. The following guidelines to preorder the Resource Guide ensure broad national dissemination through the federally funded CBCAP grantees in each State, national prevention partners, and their affiliates/member agencies. Please read the following information and then proceed to the preorder webpage.
Orders must be placed no later than February 19, 2021.
Preorder Timeframe
Preorders for the Resource Guide can be placed between January 19, 2020, and February 19, 2021, by clicking here<https://www.childwelfare.gov/topics/preventing/resource-guide-preorder/?preorderKey=regGuide>.
Quantity Limits
* The minimum preorder request is 50 guides (1 box). All preorder requests must be in multiples of 50.
* The maximum number of guides available per preorder is 250 (5 boxes).
* Once the preorder closes, Resource Guide orders can be made via the National Child Abuse Prevention Month website, which will go live in February 2021. For bulk orders, contact Child Welfare Information Gateway customer service at 1.800.394.3366 or info at childwelfare.gov<mailto:info at childwelfare.gov>.
Shipping Information
* Preorders will be shipped via United Parcel Service (UPS) once printing is completed, which is estimated to be in March 2021.
* UPS will not deliver the guides unless someone at your site is available to accept the boxes. Avoid delays in receiving your order by ensuring someone is available during regular business hours to accept delivery. There will be no advance notice or call from UPS when your shipment is ready for delivery.
* UPS cannot deliver to post office boxes. No bulk orders are allowed to military APO/FPO addresses.
* We cannot accept international or military overseas preorders.
Expectations of Preorder Participants
* Because the Resource Guide is available free of charge through funding from the Children’s Bureau of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, copies cannot be sold by any organization—this includes all grantees, State agencies, their affiliates, or other participating organizations.
* Child Welfare Information Gateway requests that participating grantees and organizations provide free shipping for the guides to the extent possible.
Questions about preorders for the 2021/2022 Prevention Resource Guide can be directed to Information Gateway's information support specialists at info at childwelfare.gov<mailto:info at childwelfare.gov> or 1.800.394.3366.

AND Virtually in the Comfort of Your Home or Office
Denver, Colorado
August 13-17, 2021
The National Association of Counsel for Children (NACC) is accepting abstract submissions now through March 1, 2021 (firm deadline) for our 44th National Child Welfare Law Conference.
The theme of this year’s conference is From Crisis to Innovation: Toward a Family-Centered Justice System. The conference will highlight and elevate the voices of those individuals most impacted by the child welfare and delinquency systems, including youth and parents with lived expertise and those disproportionately impacted by systems involvement, particularly Black and Indigenous families.
NACC will host the conference in a dual-format: in-person at the Denver Hyatt Regency and virtually online. We very much look forward to seeing you in-person, but if it is not possible to gather in-person, the conference will be held entirely online. For this reason, NACC is seeking abstract submissions from presenters willing to present live: in-person, virtually, or in either format.
Conference sessions should be designed for a national audience, expand attendees’ understanding of the law, provide practical tools and resources to support legal advocacy, and provide information and strategies for systems improvement. Specific topics of interest include:
· Prevention, early intervention, and keeping children in families, family settings, and with siblings
· Authentic youth engagement (engaging youth both inside and outside of the courtroom)
· Ethics (including conflicts, confidentiality, and privilege)
· Major federal legislation impacting child welfare and juvenile justice, such as the Family First Act
· Cross-sector presentations that address the intersections of child welfare, juvenile justice, criminal justice, poverty, and/or homelessness
· Immigration and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status
· Racial and ethnic disparities, implicit bias, and structural racism
· LGBTQIA youth and related topics, including religious freedom/faith-based LGBTQIA advocacy
· Policing, criminal justice, and child welfare
· Commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC)
· Trial skills
· Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children
· Substance use disorders, mental health, and co-occurring diagnoses
· Trauma-informed treatment and trauma-sensitive courtrooms/offices/practices
· Indian Child Welfare Act
· Innovative legal service delivery systems, multidisciplinary practice, and law office management
· Diversity and inclusion in the legal profession
· Policy advocacy (specific reforms and skill-building)
· Sessions geared toward Colorado practitioners (based on Colorado law and practice)
NACC strongly encourages and will evaluate diversity in abstract submissions, which includes diversity in faculty, topic areas, and geographic representation. NACC also encourages multidisciplinary faculty panels, presentations that include youth and parents formerly involved in the child welfare system, and presentations by Child Welfare Law Specialists. Each abstract submission must include:
· a description of how the session will address or impact racial equity, disparity, or underserved populations; and
· how the voices and recommendations of individuals with lived expertise will inform or be integrated into the session.
Conference faculty (up to two presenters per session) receive free conference registration. All faculty must pay for their own travel and accommodations. For more information about the abstract process contact Kristen.pisani-jacques at naccchildlaw.org<mailto:Kristen.pisani-jacques at naccchildlaw.org> All applicants will be notified of NACC’s selection decisions by the end of April.
