11:00am - 12:30pm PT
12:00pm - 1:30pm MT | 1:00pm - 2:30pm CT | 2:00pm - 3:30pm ET
The Regional CACs are pleased to launch new, bi-monthly peer forums for child abuse professionals who serve in the role of MDT Facilitator for a children's advocacy center. We invite you to join with your peers throughout the US to share resources, reflect on what defines and supports your role, and seek guidance from one another.
Each forum starts in a large-group format to review a special topic relevant to MDT facilitation, and then participants move to Zoom breakout rooms for small-group discussions and resource sharing. The meeting closes with all participants returning together in one large group for a Q&A with Regional CAC staff.

The National Association of Counsel for Children seeks abstract submissions for its 45th National Child Welfare Law Conference. NACC’s vision is that every child and family involved with the court system is well-represented by a lawyer who works to ensure that every child is raised by a nurturing family and has positive life opportunities. The annual conference is an opportunity for us to bring together professionals from child welfare and other intersecting fields and further the goals in NACC’s strategic plan<https://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001czfg8b2uid32GxVc_xqtPq1HJX7uCccAu-1dQacLwCCiVfv8iw4tOqhb76Ybn27Df9FngcT4G3MCOpW868UX9IdJWj_uNNOvjcU6l9mWdbZFphIWpWhKRnf_soEKKYZ3H9F755n06-mFBvRPJR5WS83HvyE792yl7zGSVJs_tt8ha9Abo2NwVSDlsgT7SVE-kJfjN7q78Ly0qKnwCm1wRqcplGegDPucjNmbbPPP3mo=&c=NGvbIA1Po2rgAaeF4bFoPnJXosqyFdOgEHh0sdnCu0aF5Pw3Q2fX4A==&ch=oKUw4e8DMRM0030KL3ACHvIVCQcUzituTdc3gfI_QM9eKHzfu2pNdw==> through the exchange of ideas, information, and collective efforts.
The theme of this year’s conference is Bridging Theory to Practice: Learning & Unlearning to Drive Effective Advocacy. NACC seeks abstract submissions that translate bold, innovative ideas into action and convey concrete tips and skills for all attorneys and professionals to integrate into their daily practice. The conference will highlight and elevate the voices of youth and parents with lived expertise and those disproportionately impacted by systems involvement, particularly Black and Indigenous families.
NACC will host the 45th National Child Welfare Conference in a dual-format: in-person at the Baltimore Marriot Waterfront in August, and online in September. NACC seeks abstract submissions from presenters willing to present in-person, virtually, or in both formats.

Historical trauma and current risk factors make Indigenous people vulnerable to many forms of crime victimization, including labor and sex trafficking. Additionally, higher percentages of American Indian and Alaska Native children are living in poverty, involved in the juvenile justice system, and the foster care system, increasing their vulnerability to human trafficking. Join panelists as they offer insight and answer participant questions on the intersection between child welfare, human trafficking, and vulnerability to exploitation. They will also discuss the impact of historical trauma and how to effectively use culture as a protective and healing factor.
Moderated by Ingrid Cumberlidge, Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons coordinator, U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Alaska, participant questions will be answered live during the session by ---

They call upon attorneys and legal service delivery systems to anchor legal representation around the voice and interests of youth they represent.
These Recommendations replace NACC’s 2001 Recommendations, which are widely recognized as best practice standards for the last two decades. Freshly updated, they mark a milestone in NACC’s journey to develop a youth-centered legal profession, advance the highest-quality legal representation, and assist jurisdictions seeking to establish and improve representation--and mark a very fitting start to NACC's 45th year!

Let's Be Real: The Urgent Need for Change in Child Welfare, Courts, and DV Programs
Let’s Be Real was the public plenary of “All of Us, Every Family,” the Quality Improvement Center on Domestic Violence in Child Welfare's March 2021 conference. There, a group of thought leaders from child welfare, dependency courts and domestic violence services grappled with the roles of each system in perpetuating structural racism and the urgent need for accountability and action. This critical conversation is now available as a video resource.

New Video Resource from the QIC-DVCW
Child welfare systems, dependency courts, and domestic violence programs have contributed to the conditions that result in disproportionate representation of families and survivors of color within child welfare, as well as racial disparities in access to help and services. Black and Indigenous children are over-represented in child welfare nationally, while Latinx children are over-represented in the system in more than 20 states.
If your work touches the lives of children and families impacted by domestic violence, the Quality Improvement Center on Domestic Violence in Child Welfare (QIC-DVCW) invites you to view our new video resource, Let's Be Real. This critical conversation among state and national leaders challenges us to take action and accountability to advance racial equity in multiple systems – so that every family experiencing domestic violence and child maltreatment can get real help.
