Logic Model for Victim Service Programs: The Link Between Program Outcomes and Program Sustainability

March 24, 2022 | 2:00–3:15 p.m. ET
Please join us on Thursday, March 24, 2022, from 2:00–3:15 p.m. eastern time, for the Office for Victims of Crime Training and Technical Assistance Center webinar “Logic Model for Victim Service Programs: The Link Between Program Outcomes and Program Sustainability,” hosted by Samantha Lowry and Laney Gibbes.

Victim service organizations are often asked to demonstrate the impact of their programming using a logic model framework, but this model has many other benefits for organizations and communities. During this training, participants will learn how using a logic model is an essential component of victim service program evaluation and planning. Information and discussion on the relationship between resources, activities, and outcomes will help prepare participants to consider the range and types of program outcomes to track. These outcomes have valuable, practical uses beyond reporting and can be used to support program communications, fundraising, and grant applications.

The “Logic Model for Victim Service Programs: The Link Between Program Outcomes and Program Sustainability” webinar is part of the new Vital Subjects series. This series will address topics that are critical to the victim services field across the country

Challenges with Statute Of Limitations in Child Sex Abuse Cases
A statute of limitations (SOL) is a law passed by a legislative body to set the maximum time after an event that may initiate legal proceedings. In most cases, unless there is an exceptional circumstance, the SOL begins to run from the date of the occurrence that caused the injury. Child victims frequently do not discover the relationship of their psychological injuries to the abuse until well into adulthood —usually during psychological counseling or therapy. They may not even realize such abuse until they undergo therapy or other counseling services.

Nearly every state has a basic suspension of the statute of limitation for civil actions while a person is a minor. Many states have also adopted additional extensions specifically for cases involving sexual abuse of children. Extensions for filing civil actions for child sexual abuse are most often based upon the discovery rule—by the time the victim discovers the sexual abuse or the relationship of the conduct to the injuries, the ordinary time limitation may have expired. This "delayed discovery" may be due to emotional and psychological trauma and is often accompanied by repression of the memory of abuse. This information is pertinent for Victim Advocates across the country to know and understand in their delivery of services to child victims of sexual assault.

The National Crime Victims Bar Association (NCVBA) will host this webinar focused on challenges with Statute Of Limitations in Child Sex Abuse Cases on March 16th from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm Eastern Standard Time. The intended audience for this presentation is victims advocates.

The Power of Community | June 9 & 10, 2022
Through the ever-changing and often uncertain landscape the covid-19 pandemic has created, there is one thing that we are certain of: we wouldn’t have had the same level of success in keeping our communities safe without Community Health Workers (CHWs).
This year’s 13th annual Latino Health Equity Conference – The Power of Community – is dedicated to recognizing, uplifting, and learning from CHWs and community based organizations (CBOs) who have been working on the frontlines.

Join us virtually on Thursday, June 9 from 9AM–3PM (PT) for an inspiring conference that celebrates and uplifts CHWs and CBOs, and addresses gaps and changes needed in healthcare systems serving Latino/x/e communities, specifically in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. If it’s safe to gather, there will be an in-person celebration for CHWs to close out the conference on Friday, June 10. More details to come!
Registration includes:

  * Access to live streamed keynote presentations
  * Access to live streamed breakout sessions
  * Post-conference access to all sessions for up to 30 days
  * One-on-one and small group meetings with sponsors and exhibitors
  * Networking opportunities with other attendees
