Tuition

OCFIT tuition will not be due until after the application status notifications are released.

Once an applicant is conditionally accepted for the training, they will be required to pay the $350.00 ($358.18 when paid via card) tuition by Wednesday, April 29, to secure their spot.

OCAS will provide payment instructions with the conditional acceptance notification email.

Updated CAMI MDT Model Protocol Template now available!

The CAMI MDT Model Protocol template is a resource to support your MDT as you prepare to update your County MDT Protocols in the coming year. You and your team can use the template as a starting point and customize the fillable fields to reflect practices in your county.
The updates have been approved by the CJA Task Force and CAMI Advisory Council. The model protocol template was created with support from the Children's Justice Act (CJA) and CAMI Regional funding administered by the Oregon Department of Justice (ODOJ) to promote best practices for MDTs.

In recognition of National Child Abuse Prevention Month,
the Umatilla County District Attorney's Office, in partnership with the Guardian Care Center,
is excited to host a regional training geared towards raising awareness,
and improving response and advocacy for child abuse victims.

Originally created for police and prosecutors, this conference is also now open to other child abuse multidisciplinary team members and child advocacy roles.

Collaborative Child Abuse Response (CCAR) is a statewide training for Oregon's MDT members early in their career or switching roles, and fulfills statutorily mandated training requirements. Seasoned MDT members have also found value in attending CCAR as a refresher. CCAR focuses on the field response to child abuse and will help you better understand the forensic interview process, best practices for field interviewing and gathering minimal facts, and how to work with children's advocacy centers (CAC). CCAR covers foundational knowledge for anyone working with children that have experienced trauma: child development, memory and trauma, and how children tell.

2026 OCAHT Summit focus: Illuminating Touchpoints: Navigating the Crossover between Child Abuse, Domestic Violence, and Human Trafficking

Presented by the Clackamas County District Attorney's Office, Children's Center, and Safety Compass, The OCAHT Summit is a three-day interactive experience of over 60 learning sessions presented by Multidisciplinary Team leaders, changemakers, and direct service providers.  This year's presenters are subject matter experts in best practice and the most up to date research at Local, State and National levels.

Online safety in a rapidly changing internet
[Teresa Huizar]Hello to all and good riddance to February’s unprecedented weather – like so many of you, I am hoping that March is milder and more forgiving than the year thus far. My hopes are dimmed by Ralph Waldo Emerson’s famous pronouncement: “Our life is March weather, savage and serene in one hour.”

Beyond just the weather, though, Emerson’s words hold true for so much of the work that our member CACs and MDTs do each day. We see the contrasts of the brutality inflicted upon child victims of abuse – and their families – and the beauty in helping them heal. And nowhere is this contrast more evident than in the way that the internet has affected our lives, and even more so, that of our children. The internet has made it possible to see worlds beyond our own – and it has brought untold risk and harm closer to our children than ever before. In 2025, NCMEC (National Center for Missing and Exploited Children) reported that, from June 2024 to June 2025, online enticement reports to the CyberTipline jumped from 292,951 (2024) to 518,720 (2025). Reports of generative artificial intelligence (GAI) related to child sexual exploitation soared from 6,835 reports to 440,419.

What are we to do in the face of this virtual tsunami? Foremost, we can advocate with policymakers at the State and Federal level for common-sense regulation of the tech sector. And, in that vein there have been some bright spots, with a number of States now requiring age-verification to help prevent children accessing adult content.

But, there is much more that can and should be done to ensure a safer online environment for kids. We so appreciate all the ways in which Children’s Advocacy Centers and MDTs across the country are working hard to educate our children, parents and caregivers, and communities about online safety – and at the same time, working tirelessly to intervene and support victims and prevent future harm. Yet, vigilant parents and MDT investigations and CAC care are not enough. We have to turn off the firehose of online predators and the CSAM materials and online grooming that they blast at children at their source—the gaming, social media, and AI products and apps and the tech companies that operate them. It’s for each of us to call on Congress and our State legislatures to enact online safety legislation and hold tech companies accountable for the safety of their products.

NCA is leading the charge through the Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act (CVFSA) 2.0 which has passed the House and now is in the Senate with S. 1892<https://nationalchildrensalliance.us11.list-manage.com/track/click?u=f0eed4a49578b60fdd38f4745&id=af921f6391&e=e91a1a05e4>. Today, the bill stands at 22 co-sponsors.

Right now, the federal government is recovering billions of dollars from fraud cases, and the Council on Criminal Justice says this approach of tapping into proceeds from False Claims Act cases reiterates VOCA’s original idea: those who break the law should help repair the harms caused by crime.

With the bill now in the Senate, this is a critical moment for CACs and other victim service providers who depend on stable funding to serve children and families.
