<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:#1F497D">I just returned from a training week in Bend where I spent time with a great group of child abuse responders and, as it turned out on a tangent, some homicide detectives too. I’m sure the Riverhouse didn’t know
what hit them when the child abuse Forensic Interviewers and Oregon’s homicide detectives showed up for training weeks at the same time! But I wish I’d known earlier this week that today was a special day so I could’ve said something personally when I had
the floor at our training. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

year as <i>First Responder Appreciation Day</i> where Oregonians can come together and honor all first responders for the work they do. All employees of your Oregon State Police thanks Oregonians for your support. We encourage Oregonians to take time out of
their day to thank a first responder in your local community including volunteers, search and rescue personnel, and full-time sworn and non-sworn employees in the fire, police, or medical profession.

Relating to recognition of first responders.<br>
<br>
<strong><span style="font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"">Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:</span></strong><b><br>
<br>
<strong><span style="font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"">(1) The Legislative Assembly finds that:</span></strong><br>
<br>
<strong><span style="font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"">(a) First responders risk their safety and personal property on a daily basis in the execution of their duty to protect the public;</span></strong><br>
<br>
<strong><span style="font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"">(b) First responders are the first line of defense for the public against threats, domestic and foreign;</span></strong><br>
<br>
<strong><span style="font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"">(c) First responders stand ready 24 hours per day to come to the aid of citizens of the United States of America;</span></strong><br>
<br>
<strong><span style="font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"">(d) First responders are a vital part of our communities, not only responding to emergencies but also volunteering in our schools and community organizations;</span></strong><br>
<br>
<strong><span style="font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"">(e) First responders, who are volunteers or employees of agencies that provide public safety services, including policing, fire protection, emergency medical services and search and rescue services, come
together during emergencies to serve the public; and</span></strong><br>
<br>
<strong><span style="font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"">(f) The State of Oregon wishes to honor and support first responders with an annual day of appreciation.</span></strong><br>
<br>
<strong><span style="font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"">(2) The Legislative Assembly declares September 27 of each year as First Responder Appreciation Day.</span></strong></b><span style="color:#666666"><o:p></o:p></span></span></p>
