Fish and Wildlife Commission to meet in Springfield Friday
Commission will host public open house Thursday evening,
hold Executive Session Friday morning
=20
PORTLAND - The Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission will hold its next =
meeting Friday, December 13, at the Eugene-Springfield Double Tree Hotel =
in Springfield beginning at 8 am. The public is invited to attend this =
meeting as well as an open house to be held in the same location Thursday, =
December 12, from 7 -9 pm. =20
The open house is an opportunity for the public to meet the Commissioners =
and Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife staff. The Commission will =
participate in a tour of ODFW projects in the surrounding area earlier in =
the day, and will discuss various topics with ODFW staff in an informal =
setting.=20
During the morning portion of the Friday meeting the Commission will break =
for an Executive Session to consult with staff and legal counsel regarding =
current litigation and pending cases.
The agenda following the Executive Session includes:
* Access and Habitat (A&H) Sunset Repeal: A member of the A&H Board will =
brief the Commission on a proposal to permanently repeal the A&H sunset on =
House Bill 2538.
* Sturgeon Options: Department staff will ask the Commission to provide =
guidance with respect to sturgeon options for 2003.
* 2003 Groundfish, Pacific Halibut and Sardine Regulations: Department =
staff will ask the Commission to adopt rules establishing regulations for =
recreational and commercial groundfish and Pacific halibut fisheries =
during 2003. These rules, by reference, will adopt related federal =
regulations and will adopt future federal regulations for sardine =
fisheries.
* Fish Screening Task Force Member Appointment: Department staff will ask =
the Commission to review and appoint a member to the task force.=20
* Columbia and Willamette Rivers 2003 Spring Chinook and Selective =
Fisheries: Department staff will provide a review of the 2003 spring =
Chinook fishery and the Select fishery options.
Public testimony on scheduled agenda items is encouraged. Sign-up sheets =
are provided the day of the meeting.
Public testimony on other topics is called 'unscheduled testimony,' and =
begins at 1 p.m. Members of the public who bring unscheduled items before =
the Commission are allowed five minutes each. Appearances can be arranged =
by calling Mike Lueck in the Director's Office at 503-872-5272.=20
Reasonable accommodation for individuals needing assistive hearing =
devices, sign language interpreters or materials in large print will be =
provided as needed. Please call Lueck in advance of the meeting to make =
arrangements for any necessary accommodation.
