Fish and Wildlife Commission to meet Oct. 10-11
PORTLAND - The Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission will meet in open =
session on Thursday, Oct. 10 and Friday, Oct. 11 to discuss wolf biology =
and to consider the adoption of rules for mechanical decoy use, big game =
hunting and nearshore ocean fisheries.
The seven-member Commission meets monthly to establish administrative =
rules and policies for implementation by the Oregon Department of Fish and =
Wildlife.
On Oct. 10, the Commission will tour Willamette Falls and associated =
hydroelectric plant and fish passage facilities. The tour is scheduled =
from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. At 1 p.m., the Commission will hear from several =
experts on wolf biology. The session, expected to last until 6 p.m., is =
the third in a series of educational workshops the Commission has held on =
wolves. It will be held in Portland at the ODFW headquarters building at =
2501 S.W. First Avenue.
The Commission will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting starting =
at 8 a.m., Oct. 11, at the Mt. Hood National Forest Headquarters, 16400 =
Champion Way in Sandy. The following items are on the agenda:
=B7 Director's briefing (informational);
=B7 Marmot Dam fish passage proposal (approval);
=B7 Access and Habitat grant awards for fire rehabilitation (approval);=
=B7 2003 big game hunting rules (rule making);
=B7 Mechanical decoy rules (rule making);
=B7 Native Fish Conservation Policy (informational);
=B7 Commercial fishing in Oregon bays and near jetties (informational);=
=B7 Nearshore ocean fishing moratorium (rule making);
=B7 Developmental fisheries permits, board appointments, and rule =
changes; and
=B7 Columbia River sturgeon fishery (informational).
Previous public notices announced that the Commission would consider a =
permanent rule on the importation of live elk and deer into Oregon. The =
issue will be considered at the Nov. 8 meeting in Portland.=20
