Umatilla Spring Chinook Season to Close
PENDLETON - The lower Umatilla River downstream of the Umatilla Indian Reservation boundary closes to spring chinook angling after today's fishing day because the harvest goal of 750 fish has been met.
The season opened April 16 and was originally scheduled to end June 30.
Anglers have had good success on the Umatilla this year, prompting the early closure.
The affected area is from the Highway 730 Bridge upstream to the Umatilla Indian Reservation boundary upstream of the Highway 11 Bridge at Pendleton. The Umatilla spring chinook fisheries are co-managed with the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation.
