Fish and Wildlife Commission to meet in Salem to approve 2005-07 budget request
SALEM - The Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission will meet Friday, July 9, in Salem to approve the proposed 2005-07 agency budget request. The Commission also will be adopting furbearing and unprotected mammal regulations for 2004-05 and 2005-06.
The Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission is the policy-making body for fish and wildlife issues in the state. The seven-member panel meets monthly. The meeting will occur in the Commission Room of the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife headquarters building located at 3406 Cherry Ave. N.E. in Salem.
The official meeting of the Commission will begin at 8 a.m. and proceed through the agenda in order. The following items are scheduled:
· Director's report on regional ODFW activities, Columbia River sturgeon fishery update, temporary rules;
· Expenditure report;
· Approval of 2005-07 agency budget request;
· Approval of Hot Lake Tract land donation near La Grande;
· Review and approval of the Troll Salmon Permit Lottery for 2004;
· Informational briefing on annual report for Salmon Trout Enhancement Program (STEP);
· Informational briefing on implementation of HB 2606 and review of STEP;
· Approval of final order on Developmental Fisheries Program contested case;
· Rulemaking on Furbearing and Unprotected Mammal Regulations for 2004-05 and 2005-06;
· Rulemaking on Access and Habitat auction and raffle tags for 2005; and
· Informational briefing on wild turkey management plan.
Public testimony will be taken on each agenda item. For all agenda items, sign-up sheets to testify will be provided at the meeting. Most agenda items are posted to ODFW's Web site at: http://www.dfw.state.or.us/Comm/schedule.htm.
Persons seeking to testify for up to five minutes on other issues not on the formal agenda may do so by making arrangements at least 24 hours in advance. "Unscheduled testimony" must be arranged by calling Katie Thiel, ODFW Director's Office, at 503-947-6044. Unscheduled testimony will occur around 1 p.m. and is limited to about six speakers. Currently, two speakers are expected.
