Rogue River spring chinook advisory committee to meet
ROSEBURG - The Rogue River Spring Chinook Conservation Plan Advisory
Committee will meet Tuesday, Nov. 30, in Central Point. Interested
members of the public are invited to attend.
The advisory committee is helping the Oregon Department of Fish and
Wildlife develop a Rogue River spring chinook conservation plan under
the Native Fish Conservation Policy. The advisory committee is made up
of representatives from various interest groups along with several state
and federal agencies. ODFW expects to release a draft of the plan for
public comment next summer.
Bruce Sund, Oregon Department of Water Resources, will discuss water
management issues in the Rogue basin, in particular the committee's
idea of generating more water in tributaries to provide additional
spawning grounds for spring chinook. Sund also will discuss Lost Creek
Reservoir's water storage allocation process for fish enhancement,
agriculture, and municipal and industrial uses.
Advisory committee meetings are held monthly from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
at the ODFW Central Point office, 1495 East Gregory Road. Reasonable
accommodations will be provided as needed for individuals requesting
assistive hearing devices, sign language interpreters, or large-print
materials. Individuals needing these types of accommodations may call
the ODFW Information and Education Division at 800-720-6339 or
503-947-6002 at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting.
