Fish and Wildlife Commission to meet in Salem

SALEM - The Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission will meet April 15 in
Salem to review and possibly approve a plan to reintroduce Rocky
Mountain goats to the Columbia River Gorge. 
 
The Commission is the policy making body for fish and wildlife issues in
the state. The seven-member panel meets monthly. Friday's meeting will
be held at ODFW headquarters, 3406 Cherry Ave. NE. 
 
Other topics on the meeting agenda include:
* Adoption of rules establishing the 2005 ocean salmon regulations for
sport and commercial harvest, developed by the Pacific Fishery
Management Council  
* A review of 2004 Pacific Lamprey harvests at Willamette Falls, and
possible adoption of rules prohibiting use of lamprey as bait
* A review of Fish Restoration and Enhancement Program projects for
2005, and possible approval of recommended projects
* Discussion of and possibly action on a proposal to give preference
points to Oregon hunters who are active members of the military
* An informational briefing on ODFW's conservation assessment and
strategy for Greater Sage Grouse

Public testimony is invited. Sign-up sheets are available in the hallway
outside the Commission Room the day of the meeting for persons who want
to testify on scheduled agenda items. Persons seeking to testify on
issues not on the formal agenda may do so by making arrangements with
the ODFW Director's Office at least 24 hours in advance by calling
800-720-6339 or 503-947-6044. All non-agenda testimony, also called
"unscheduled testimony," begins at 1 p.m. and is limited to about six
speakers for up to five minutes each. 
 
Reasonable accommodations will be provided as needed for individuals
requesting assistive hearing devices, sign language interpreters or
large-print materials. Individuals needing these types of accommodations
may call the ODFW Director's Office at 800-720-6339 or 503-947-6044 at
least 24 hours in advance of the meeting.
