Native Fish Conservation Policy Task Force to meet in Salem
SALEM - The Native Fish Conservation Policy Task Force will hold its
next quarterly meeting Sept. 7 in Salem to discuss the draft Native Fish
Status Report currently out for public review and receive updates on
other issues.
Additional topics on the agenda include presentations on conservation
planning, the status of the Oregon Hatchery Research Center, and
development of the Comprehensive Wildlife Conservation Strategy.
The task force was formed in 2002 to advise ODFW in the development of
the Native Fish Conservation Policy, which was adopted by the Oregon
Fish and Wildlife Commission in November 2002. The 18-member task force
represents sport fishing, commercial fishing, timber, cattle and farming
industries, conservation organizations, and state and local governments.
The task force meets quarterly to track a variety of fishery issues
related to the implementation of the Native Fish Conservation Policy.
The meeting, which is open to the public, will take place at the Oregon
Department of Fish and Wildlife headquarters building at 3406 Cherry
Avenue NE in Salem. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and is
expected to end at 10 p.m. Parking is free. Driving instructions can be
