Public comment period extended on Oregon sage-grouse conservation
strategy


SALEM - State wildlife officials today announced an extension of the
public comment period to May 13 for Oregon's draft Greater Sage-Grouse
Conservation Assessment and Strategy. 

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife also announced six town hall
meetings in January and February to explain the draft, answer questions
and describe how the public can submit comments on the draft. 
The meetings are coordinated by ODFW, the federal Bureau of Land
Management, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Meetings are
scheduled for 7-9 p.m. local time as follows:

Ontario  	Jan. 27, Holiday Inn, Lewis and Clark Room, 1249
Tapadera Avenue
Salem		Feb. 1, ODFW Headquarters, Commission Room, 3406 NE

The Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission, which meets monthly, is the
policymaking body for fish and wildlife issues in the state. The
Commission is expected to adopt the proposed guidelines at its May 13
meeting in Prineville.
