Rogue River spring chinook advisory committee to meet in Gold Beach

ROSEBURG - The Rogue River Spring Chinook Conservation Plan Advisory
Committee announced today it will hold its Jan. 26 meeting at the Curry
County Fairgrounds in Gold Beach.

The Jan. 26 agenda includes review and discussion of 30 recommendations
listed in the Spring Chinook Completion Report, published in 2000, and
issues related to natural spawning by hatchery fish. The committee also
will discuss essential elements of the spring chinook conservation plan,
including those required under ODFW's Native Fish Conservation
Policy.

The meeting is scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Showcase Building,
located at the north end of the fairgrounds parking lot, 29392
Ellensburg/Hwy 101.

The advisory committee is helping the Oregon Department of Fish and
Wildlife develop a Rogue River spring chinook conservation plan under
the Native Fish Conservation Policy. The committee includes
representatives from various interest groups as well as state and
federal agencies.

ODFW expects to release a draft of the plan for public comment this
summer.
