Youth fishing event scheduled at Trojan Pond
RAINIER - Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife officials today
announced a youth fishing opportunity April 29 at Trojan Pond, east of
Rainier.
ODFW will add 1,850 trout to the 2,000 trout regularly stocked there at
Trojan Pond. The event is part of the Youth Angling Enhancement Program,
now in its third year. ODFW employees and volunteers will provide
fishing equipment and angling instruction from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
"This is a great opportunity to introduce children to the fun of fishing
and encourage participation in outdoor recreation activities," said
Salmon and Trout Enhancement Program Biologist Jeff Fulop.
Anglers 13 years of age and under can fish for free. A juvenile license
is required for anglers 14-17 years of age. All state fishing
regulations continue to apply.
Trojan Pond is a 15-acre lake located on the north side of Highway 30 in
Prescott, just southeast of Rainier.
