Youth fishing event this weekend in Grants Pass

ROSEBURG - The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is hosting a
fishing event for kids May 20 at the Reinhart Volunteer Pond, formerly
the All Sports Park Pond. The pond is located in Grant Pass off Lincoln
Road.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. ODFW staff and volunteers from the
Crater Bass Club will be available to provide some loaner fishing
equipment and angling instruction. Anglers 13 years of age and younger
can fish Reinhart Volunteer Park Pond without a license. A juvenile
license is required for anglers 14 to 17 years of age. All fishing
regulations apply during this event.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to introduce children to the fun of
fishing," said ODFW biologist Jay Doino. "We really encourage families
to participate in the event, and we hope folks will leave fishing to the
youngsters for the day."

ODFW will stock 500 rainbow trout for this event as part of the Youth
Angling Enhancement Program, now in its third year.
