[ODLC] October Governing Board Meeting - Save the Date!

Hello ODLC Community,

The time has come to set our next meeting of the ODLC Governing Board. I do not yet have a full agenda prepared (coming soon!), but I do have a few topics I know will need to be covered:


*         Bylaws Change: I have attached a draft of possible changes to our bylaws, which the Governing Board will be voting on. You can see the current language by visiting our Google Site here: https://sites.google.com/site/odlccommittee/bylaws. The main purpose of this proposed change is to allow for two dates per calendar year in which new libraries can be admitted to the consortium, rather than making everyone wait until the Spring Governing Board meeting, no matter when they reach out to us. There is also a bit of cleaning up of old language regarding the types of media we provide access to.

*         Public Library Connection: PLC is a free service offered by Overdrive to schools that are signed up for their service, allowing them to share the collection held by the local public library. It uses the "Sora" app, which is how some people know it. ODLC has voted not to go with this in the past, but in light of the new educational environment during the pandemic, there are requests for us to reconsider.

*         Grants: Hopefully, by the time of the meeting, there will be some news to share regarding our LSTA and CARES Act grant requests. The CARES grant was to boost our small Spanish language collection, in case anyone missed that when we announced our application.

And speaking of the time of the meeting, I am going to set it for 3PM on Wednesday, October 14. If you are on the Governing Board, please save the date. Anyone is welcome to attend if you want, though only Governing Board members may vote.
