Happy New Year Governing Board!

Here is the latest news and updates from the Executive Committee:


  *   We want to hear from YOU! Carrie (Vice Chair) and Elizabeth (Chair) will be reaching out to the Governing Board members to discuss our upcoming budget, Sora, Advantage Plus, and magazines.
  *
  *   Budget: It's time to decide on our content contributions budget for next year.  We are proposing 5%, 10%, or 15% increases to help keep up with the ever-growing demand for digital content.  Please start thinking about your budget and which increase works best for your library.
  *
  *   Selection Chair Vacancy: Interested in joining the fun and rewarding work of the Executive Committee?  We are seeking a volunteer for the Selection Chair position to serve the rest of this fiscal year (now through June 30, 2022).  The duties of the Selection Committee Chair include overseeing and coordinating the work of selectors purchasing materials for the Oregon Digital Library Consortium.  This is a great opportunity for collection development experience, we all know buying books is one of the best parts of library work!  A HUGE thank you to Rebecca Gabert for her ODLC work over the years.

  *   Advocacy around ebook restrictions: ODLC recently contributed to a letter OLA is drafting to thank Senator Wyden for his efforts to investigate publisher practices related to library ebook licensing.   *   Spring Governing Board Meeting at PLA: We'll have a hybrid meeting in March, in-person meeting for those attending PLA/OLA in Portland along with an option to attend virtually.  Stay tuned for more information.

  *   Advantage Plus: If your library purchases titles through Overdrive's Advantage program, PLEASE consider enrolling in Advantage Plus.  Advantage Plus allows eligible titles from your library's collection to be shared with ODLC while maintaining priority for your users.  Thank you to those libraries already participating, it's helping to improve title selection, availability and circulation for all members of the shared collection.
