[OEBBBUSMAN] OEBB -- Update on Champs! and Announcement of Upcoming Wellness Conference

I wanted to take this opportunity to report that the OEBB Champs! group
met for the first time today.  We had representatives from around 10
different school districts, ESDs and community colleges participate in
today's meeting. It was exciting to hear of the good things that are
already happening in many of the entities in the area of promoting and
supporting the health and wellness of employees, as well as all of the
interest in starting or enhancing wellness programs and activities.  We
hope the participation in the group will grow to include at least one
representative from each of our participating entities and we will
continue to post information about participation in this group on our
website.

 

I would also like to share some more exciting information in the area of
wellness. Following is a message from OEA Choice Trust announcing the
2012 Oregon School Employee Wellness Education Conference to be held
March 25 - 27.  Please share this message with employees involved in, or
interested in becoming involved in, promoting and supporting wellness in
your schools.  I've also attached a flyer for the conference, for your
convenience.

School employees are a valuable asset to our schools and communities
because they nurture and shape the health and learning of students. On
March 25 -27th OEA Choice Trust in collaboration with OEA, ODS, COSA,
OEBB, Multnomah County Health, Alliance for a Healthier Generation and
Oregon Public Health will host the Oregon School Employee Wellness
Education Conference: It Starts with YOU! in Bend.  The overarching goal
is to promote the health and wellbeing of Oregon school employees by
building a healthy learning environment.  The Oregon School Employee
Wellness Education Conference is designed to be interactive and provide
participants with the resources and tools to promote health and wellness
in their schools and communities.  Sessions will highlight effective
strategies to address the following conference objectives:

*         Build personal skills to improve overall health.

*         Create a culture of wellness at schools.

*         Establish a school team to develop a plan of action for
employee wellness.

*         Access state, local and national resources to support school
employee wellness.

 

Reasons to attend:

*         Connect and learn from school employees, administrators and
school board members that are making a difference in the lives of their
employees.  

*         Family friendly: Enjoy the beauty of Bend and participate in
fun, engaging wellness activities.   

*         Register a colleague and your name will be entered in a
drawing for an iPad!  

*         Earn 10 CPDUs and applied for 1 CPE!
