[OGIC] Oregon Strategic Plan for Geographic Information Management

At the June 2010 OGIC meeting, OGIC indicated that they wanted to move
forward with the navigatOR strategy, rather than putting more effort in
to a new Strategic Plan. After careful consideration of the results of
that meeting, and knowing that we have to comply with the requirements
of the USGS CAP Grant for developing a refreshed Strategic Plan using
their template, we have come up with a plan of action that we believe
accomplishes both the OGIC results and the USGS grant requirements.

 

The attached Strategic Plan follows the CAP grant template, but is
aligned with the navigatOR Implementation Plan. The navigatOR
Implementation Plan will need to be refreshed so that it reflects what
has been accomplished over the last couple of years since it was
drafted, and it will be refreshed based on the Strategic Plan. The
Strategic Plan refreshes the 2001 Strategic Plan. The navigatOR
Implementation Plan is more detailed than a strategic plan should be.
The two plans together form the basis for moving navigatOR forward
effectively in the next legislative session and in the coming years. We
will begin immediately to update the navigatOR Implementation Plan and
that will be sent forward to this same group for endorsement in the near
future.

 

Please review the attached document and send comments to us by end of
day, Tuesday, August 31st.  We will modify the document based on those
comments, add an Executive Summary, and send the result to OGIC for
final review about a week prior to their September 15th meeting. Our
objective is to gain OGIC endorsement of this plan at the September 15th
meeting.

 

Ed Arabas will be the contact for this review while Milt is out of the
office. Milt will return August 25th and assume the role of primary
contact at that time. Please send comments to both Ed and Milt.
