[OGIC] ArcGIS Online Competition for US High Schools and Middle Schools

OGIC, TAC, and PAC members,

In 2022, the Northwest GIS User Group kindly led an effort to get Oregon on the map of a national competition for high schools and middle schools<https://agoschoolcomp-education.hub.arcgis.com/>.  The NWGIS User group has recently reached out hoping that someone in Oregon will step up and take the lead in spreading the word about GIS to our middle and high school teachers and students.  In short, Esri provides the tools for the participants and my office will work to provide GIS mentors or pair a teacher with a GIS mentor as needed.  I'm reaching out to you to find out if any of you have a passion for K-12 education and would be interested in leading this effort for Oregon - - with assistance from my office, esri, and the NWGIS User Group.

Last year, Oregon had 1 teacher in 1 school participate.  It wouldn't take much effort to build on what was done last year. Consider this a stepping stone for Oregon and for OGIC in doing some K-12 GIS outreach.  If you are interested in leading this effort or partnering with my office on this initiative, please write me back and let me know.
