Hi All,
Please join me in welcoming our newest OGIC member Madeline Steele! Madeline will be representing Regional Government.
Madeline has already made a useful impact to the Council volunteering for our new Data Sharing and Governance Committee.
A short Bio:
Madeline Steele has over 10 years of professional experience in the geospatial field, including three years contracting for the US Fish and Wildlife Service and 6.5 years at TriMet. She’s had the privilege of working on a variety of impactful projects, including Willamette Valley conservation prioritization, OpenStreetMap data improvement, and the addition of shared modes to TriMet’s Trip planner. In December of 2022, she accepted a new position as the Data Stewardship Manager at Metro, where she leads the team that delivers the Regional Land Information System (RLIS) in collaboration with local partners. The RLIS program has been in place for over 30 years, and it now provides more than 150 layers of spatial data that support strategic decision-making across the Portland metro region.
Madeline grew up on a Washington County nursery surrounded by dogs, cats, and even a few goats. She has a BS in English from the U of O, a Master’s in Archaeology from Cambridge, a second Master’s in Geography from PSU, and Project Management Professional certification. As the mother of wonderful, willful toddler, she doesn’t have a lot of time for hobbies, but when she gets a chance she enjoys playing guitar, mixing fancy cocktails, and hiking. She strongly believes that when public organizations work together, they can create efficiencies and new opportunities that greatly benefit the people they serve. She thinks OGIC is poised to make a real difference in this space and is excited to lend a hand.
Thanks again for volunteering Madeline and we look forward to working with you.
