Hello, board and commission members!

For those of you I haven't met yet, my name is Brandy Hemsley, and I am the executive appointments advisor for Governor Tina Kotek. My role is focused on support for boards and commissions, and I'm excited to share information about some new resources our team has created for you all.

First, I will be launching an email list soon which I will use to provide you all with updates and information from the Governor's Executive Appointments team. This listserv is open to anyone who is interested in the Governor's boards and commissions, especially current and prospective members. When the list goes "live," you will each receive a message letting you know that you have been subscribed.

Secondly, we have some trainings scheduled that I hope you will attend. The dates, times, and descriptions are below. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or feedback, and I look forward to connecting with you all in the future!

Introduction to the Executive Appointments Team

Friday, November 15th from 10:00 - 11:30am

Join us to meet the members of Governor Kotek's Executive Appointments team and learn about the ways we can support you. We will share information about our team, our roles, and some of our processes. We will also share and discuss survey results that we are using to plan future training and networking opportunities. There will be time for discussion, questions, and feedback from all of you. We'd love to meet you and hear about your needs and any training opportunities you might be interested in.

Public Meetings Law Training for Board and Commission Members
Wednesday, December 4th from 9:30am to 12:00pm

This online training session is designed for individual governing body members that are subject to Oregon Public Meetings Law, and the public officials who help support the meeting and governing body members. This session satisfies the Public Meetings Law training requirement in ORS 192.700. The course content will cover the individual responsibilities of governing body members, how the statutes apply to convening a public meeting, a general overview of executive session provisions, and a look at the grievance process. This session is two and a half hours.
