We did a successful logo project early on, through our Promotion Committee.
We chose one local graphic artist and spent a couple months doing a "design
by committee" process, and it actually turned out alright.

 

Looking back, what helped us out the most was the decision to spend an
entire meeting literally walking around downtown with our committee and
identifying architectural elements that could work to symbolize our downtown
well. That got everyone on the same page with  what "symbol" should be
focused on. Once the general "symbol" was chosen and agreed upon, it made
the rest of the process much easier.

Hello all,

 

Astoria is in the process of coming up with a logo for our downtown
association. We have tried coming up with concepts at the board level (with
two designers on the board), but seem to be stuck in analysis paralysis. We
are considering looking at an inexpensive freelance, having a contest, etc.
in order to get more objective feedback and move forward. Any suggestions or
ideas based on what worked for you?
