[OMS_MANAGERS] Oregon Main Street Updates

I know the feeling of having a burnt out group. The Klamath Falls Downtown Association is experiencing the same thing. I am not sure how to combat it, but I think the first thing is to remember that Downtown Revitalization is a marathon not a sprint. When you are a small good with no dedicated manager, I think it is a good idea to take a break from the "Association" activities, so people have the opportunity to focus on other things for a while. I would suggest incorporate this break into your yearly work program.

Thank you Sheri. The stats on how much $ is retained in our community by the sole proprietors in relation to big boxes & chains has been emailed to Canyonville's Main Street participants and it is my hope it will inspire them.
Can anyone address the following situation? Our Main Street is experiencing burn out, low participation, and difficulty focusing & organizing. My friends are calling me the "Weary Optimist" but I am beginning to question the time spent leading Canyonville's Exploring Main Street as my business needs more of my attention to become financially successful. For perspective, downtown Canyonville has approximately 25 retail & service businesses. We also have an active Chamber of Commerce & Lions Club. There is hope for 2011 as we are changing our meeting times to evening instead of morning in an attempt to get more participation.
Anyone out there have any suggestions?
Thanks!
