Hi Marya,
For 15 years Historic Baker City sold historic building ornaments. In the last 5 years the interest has significantly waned (so much so that we stopped publishing them this last year). The cost/cash outlay is also high, with high min. orders price breaks and shipping. We do much better with historic postcards and posters; they're not seasonal and very easy to take home. People love them. We have them printed locally with great success. Soon we will probably do a re-usable shopping bag, promoting Baker City and our shop local campaign.

Hi Marya,
We've done a few of these in the past, and it depends on the timing of the event, as well as the vendors. One time (a morning event) we sold coffee in commemorative travel mugs (the mugs cost us $3; Starbucks provided the coffee free, and we sold them for $10 - big hit!)
Another event was later in the afternoon and into the evening - we sold glasses of wine in commemorative wine glasses, etched with our logo, but you could etch anything you want (such as a line drawing of a prominent building???). Same kinda deal - the wine was donated and the glasses cost us about $4 (based on a pretty big volume, though), and sold them for around $10 or $12..also sold full bottles of wine with commemorative add-on labels.
Recently I've been to some events that sell re-usable shopping bags made from recycled material with logos on them..these seem be pretty popular, and I seen them used all over town after the event..nice marketing plus!
Good luck with your event!

The fledgling Enterprise Main Street group is helping organize the Bowlby Bash (a street fair in Historic Enterprise) and we are trying to decide what kind of souvenirs to sell. We haven't had much luck with T-shirts but think perhaps something else might work better. We are thinking of lapel pins, note cards, or Christmas ornaments with a historic building theme.
What souvenirs have worked well for other towns?
