1. Excellence in Downtown Revitalization Awards: The deadline is fast
approaching to submit nominations for the "Excellence in Downtown
Revitalization" awards. Applications are due on July 30, 2012 - see
attached for additional info & the nomination form. Please email:

2. Cash Mobs: Several communities in Oregon have organized or planning
cash mobs. The folks in Myrtle Creek shared a great website in case you
are thinking of starting one or want to promote your existing event: 
CashMob.com ( http://www.cashmob.com/ )is a leading promotions and
marketing portal that allows users to find cash mobs near them while
also learning about the phenomenon. Through their educational outreach,
CashMob.com strives to unite members of the community and ultimately
help local businesses find economic success. For more information visit

In fact, Myrtle Creek submitted the name of their local volunteer who
coordinated their Cash Mob program for a "Making Change" award from
CashMob - see notice below:


The "Making Change" Award acknowledges organizers who have successfully
and creatively held a cash mob in their community by uniting the
community through social media and various marketing outlets. This award
not only congratulates the Myrtle Creek- Tri City Area Chamber of
Commerce and organizer Paulette Jones on their successful event, but it
also aims to inspire and fuel future cash mobs throughout the country.
Ted Romas, President of Myrtle Creek Tri- City Area Chamber of Commerce,
said, “Paulette Jones did her homework before presenting the cash mob
idea to both the Myrtle Creek City Council and the Chamber of Commerce.
She got ‘buy-in’ from both and is now in full partnership with the
Chamber about upcoming cash mobs.”
Myrtle Creek has excelled with their media outreach by not only
utilizing Facebook and Twitter but also other news and media outlets as
well. This outreach notifies residents of where the cash mob will be
held along with rules and specifications. "Paulette Jones’ dedication
toward multiple cash mobs has inspired not only our entire team here at
CashMob, but other communities as well," said Suzanne Obszanski,
Director of Marketing and Promotion for CashMob.com.
Myrtle Creek- Tri City Area Chamber of Commerce and Paulette Jones have
successfully completed two cash mobs and are eager to implement monthly
mobs to help support local establishments. Jones states, "Local
businesses are so excited to get involved. More businesses are now
supporting one another and giving back to the community." CashMob.com is
honored to present "Making Change" and looks forward to what mobs and
