[OMS_MANAGERS] Parking question

Kelly -
Do you have any big parking lots nearby? In Canby, we have a school very close to our downtown area. When we have events (and I'm thinking of this church as a reoccurring event for this purpose) we try to encourage the event coordinators to have the attendees park in that parking lot. Of course we have permission from the superintendent and we need to make sure that there are no school events that are there. Any big parking lot would do - school, grocery store, etc. That way you can keep the prime spots open for people who are actually coming to do business downtown.
Sincerely,
Jamie Stickel

Subject: [OMS_MANAGERS] Parking question
Hi all,
We have a church in our downtown that is proving to cause a parking issue on Sunday mornings (an much of the day actually)
Probably an age-old problem for many communities, but our first.
Of course, the wine tasting room next door, and the retail/restaurant space just around the corner are finding that people are pulling up but driving away because there's no place to park in front of their business.
Has anyone found an equitable way to handle this?
I'm wondering if they'd be allowed to put barricades out in front for the 1/2 hour or so that church-goers are arriving, or if late comers would just take those spots the minute they pull the barricade away.
Thoughts?
Thanks very much
