[OMS_MANAGERS] Parking question

In Salem, the church off Broadway by the Broadway Commons does an excellent job self-policing their parishoners. They have parking guides to direct traffic and put up sandwich signs where church goers shouldn't park and directing them to areas where they can park.

Thanks Roxana, I agree, good communication will be the key.

Face to face works, we have resolved several issues here in Roseburg by having business owners talk face to face.
We have a parking garage here in Roseburg.
Another option is to offer a shuttle service from a parking lot to the front of the church a Valet service.

Thanks David. Yes, I believe they've tried that. And found it helped for awhile. Perhaps it's something that needs to be addressed more regularly. Perhaps I'll reach out to the church as well, so that it's not just the business owner.

Have the owners of the wine tasting room and the restaurant made an effort to talk to the pastor of the church about this problem? I have found that in small communities like Sandy, issues are much more easily resolved when people talk face to face with their neighbors. If the pastor would be willing to politely ask his parishioners not to park directly in front of their neighbor's businesses, you might be surprised how effective that could be.

Hi all,
We have a church in our downtown that is proving to cause a parking issue on Sunday mornings (an much of the day actually)

Probably an age-old problem for many communities, but our first.

Of course, the wine tasting room next door, and the retail/restaurant space just around the corner are finding that people are pulling up but driving away because there's no place to park in front of their business.

Has anyone found an equitable way to handle this?

I'm wondering if they'd be allowed to put barricades out in front for the 1/2 hour or so that church-goers are arriving, or if late comers would just take those spots the minute they pull the barricade away.

Thoughts?

Thanks very much
