Hi Kendall,
About a decade ago when we had a little more public money we did have
bicycle patrols and they worked very well. Recently we have been talking
with our police department about establishing a downtown "ranger" much like
our public park rangers. They are authorized to write citations and have
radio equipment to call in officers if they are needed. The cost is about
$20,000 a year for a part time ranger, but we're looking for grant money to
help. We think their presence will deter some loitering and panhandling
issues we've been having lately.
Cheers,

Hello, I am curious if any Downtown Associations have hired walking or bike
patrols in their Downtown areas?
Thank you,
