For future reference: Window Painting

The local window painter in Tillamook uses interior house paint. She outlines in black, fills in with white, and adds color over the white. She says if not directly exposed to elements (especially rain), it will last almost indefinitely. She only paints on the outside, not inside.

The paint removes easily with an ammonia cleaner and a razor blade.

Yesterday, our high school art class took the school day to paint us a beautiful mural, all about the town, in the vacant windows of a large storefront.

They used acrylic paint.

This morning, some of the panels are running!!

Unfortunately, the building is not climate controlled and, therefore, is obviously damp.

Has anyone had any success in these less-than-desirable conditions?

I'm so disappointed for them, they worked really hard to get it done, and the results are so lovely and colorful. (and somewhat drippy).

Thanks very much! I'm hoping to have some ideas before talking to the art teacher. :)

Best Regards, and happy holidays!
