Travel Oregon Opens 2014/2015 Matching Grants Program Application Process

Travel Oregon is pleased to announce the opening of the 2014/2015 Matching Grants Program<http://e2.ma/click/xts2h/5f3f3c/xlemtd>. The program makes awards to eligible applicants for projects that contribute to the development and improvement of local communities throughout the state in support of Travel Oregon’s mission of "a better life for Oregonians through strong, sustainable local economies."

The 2014/2015 cycle has $120,000 available for grant awards. The funds will be available in amounts not less than $2,500 or more than $20,000. An applicant may apply for one grant per cycle and must match the amount of the awarded grant dollar-for-dollar. Up to 50% of the match may be in-kind.

Cities, counties, port districts, federally recognized Tribes and non-profit entities in Oregon involved with tourism promotion and development are eligible to apply. Projects should target the development of tourism infrastructure or strategic collaborative marketing initiatives that align with local, regional or statewide efforts and increase the likelihood of visitation from outside the local area. Partnerships with local, regional and statewide tourism organizations, economic development and/or government organizations and tourism-related businesses are encouraged.

Changes to the 2014/2015 Matching Grants Program cycle include:

  *   Increase in the maximum dollar amount to be awarded (up to $20,000)
  *   Longer time frame to complete the grant project (September 2014 – September 2015)
  *   Closer alignment with local, regional and statewide development and marketing initiatives
  *   Larger disbursement amount up front starting with the signed contract

Deadlines to mark on your calendar include:

  *   May 2, 2014 by 5 p.m. - Deadline to contact both your DMO and RDMO with your grant project idea
  *   May 23, 2014 by 5 p.m. - Deadline to submit Grant Project Idea Worksheet to Travel Oregon
  *   June 12, 2014 by 5 p.m. - Deadline to submit Matching Grants Program application to Travel Oregon
