Good Day All!
Hard to believe that it is already recruitment time here at the Resource Assistance for Rural Environments (RARE) headquarters. As most of you know, word of mouth is one of the best methods of recruitment. As such, we hope you will help us spread the good word about the RARE Program. This year alone, we have participants working with La Grande Main Street Downtown, Milton-Freewater Downtown Alliance, Coos Bay Downtown Association, Sandy Main Street, City of The Dalles Main Street and Port Orford Main Street Revitalization Association on an array of amazing Main Street related projects. Whether it is developing a Restaurant Guide for the South Coast, coordinating and organizing La Grande’s first Brew Festival, taking the lead on a strategic planning process… our members are making a difference in rural communities across the State of Oregon!
Please pass on the following announcement and attached flyer to organizations that could possibly use our assistance…
Do you have community building, main street, downtown development or planning projects that you do not have resources to complete?
If so…
The Resource Assistance for Rural Environments (RARE) Program might be your solution.
The mission of the RARE Program is to increase the capacity of rural communities to improve their economic, social, and environmental conditions, through the assistance of trained graduate-level participants, from across the US. These RARE participants live in and serve the communities for 11 months. RARE participants assist in the development and implementation of projects focused on increasing the vitality of the communities and organizations we serve. The RARE Program is now in its 20th year and has placed more than 400 volunteers and served nearly every Oregon County.
For more information about the RARE Program, including the benefits and the costs of the program, please visit our website at http://csc.uoregon.edu/rare/. Pre-applications (due April 18, 2014) are available online as well. If you have any questions, please contact us via email at: rare at uoregon.edu<mailto:rare at uoregon.edu> or telephone at: 541.346.2879.
Thanks,
Titus Tomlinson
