Nominations are now open for the 2014 DeMuro Award for Excellence in Preservation, Reuse, & Community Revitalization. This annual award serves to spotlight and celebrate rehabilitation and compatible infill projects across Oregon that exemplify exceptional creativity, quality, and community impact, and to share the lessons learned. Eligibility
* Rehabilitation/redevelopment of a structure at least 50 years old
* Compatible new development within a historic district
* Completed in Oregon within the last five years
Criteria
* Creative approach to design, adaptive reuse, and problem solving
* Exceptional quality of engineering, craftsmanship, materials, and standards
* Significant impact and value to the community culturally, environmentally, economically
Categories
* Commercial rehab
* Residential rehab
* Public/Government rehab
* Rural/agricultural rehab
* Compatible infill development
* Landscape architecture/other
Process
Nominations will be accepted through August 11th and self-nominations are welcome. The panel of judges will include representatives from the architectural and preservation communities. The awards will be presented at Restore Oregon's Restoration Celebration on November 5th at the Sentinel (Governor) Hotel in Portland. Case studies of the projects will be profiled on our website and in other materials for the purpose of sharing best practices.
