+1. The City of Shady Cove is considering this, and in speaking with our
agent, it seems it may be as easy as letting them know about the event and
some minor details prior. Alcohol and some specific things would require a
small additional cost.

Katherine,
You may be able to cover some of your events on your current General
Liability for CBDA. It just depends on the insurance company. Most of our
events were covered. It just required letting them know about the event.
Once alcohol or fireworks was involved, we then had an additional $250 fee
per event. At Hillsdale Community Foundation we used Bliss Sequoia ((503)
364-5401) out of Salem for our insurance.
Hope that helps!
Sincerely yours,

Subject: [OMS_MANAGERS] Event Insurance
Hello all!
Every August, the Coos Bay Downtown Association hosts the Blackberry Arts
Festival which features local, Oregon foods and crafts. Until now, the CBDA
has required that each vendor purchase and submit their own insurance.
However, we heard from some of our smaller vendors that they are unable to
participate in the festival because of the cost of the insurance. We have
been looking at the idea of CBDA purchasing and holding the general
liability insurance that would cover all of the vendors. We would then raise
the vendor fee slightly to cover our cost. Does anyone currently purchase
event insurance for their festivals or farmers' markets? Has it been
successful? Have you seen growth in your event?
Any insight is appreciated! Thanks!
Katherine
