Dear Main Streeters -

As you may recall from our talk at last fall's conference, Restore Oregon is working to improve the financial tools available to Main Street property owners to fund rehabilitation of their historic buildings. We are hoping to bring forward legislation for a 25% state Rehabilitation Tax Credit<http://restoreoregon.org/rehab-tax-credit/> (RTC) in the 2015 session. This, combined with the federal Historic Tax Credit, could have a profound impact on restoring and reusing historic commercial buildings across the state. In preparation for this major effort, we are collecting "ammunition" in the form of examples of historic downtown buildings that would benefit from the proposed tax credit.

Could you please take a moment to consider which key building(s) on your Main Street are in serious need of rehabilitation and would have a major positive impact if completed? Here's the basic info we need - along with one or two good photos of the building.
Name of building:
Address of building:
Original use / current use (incl if some or all is vacant):
Contact for building (name, phone or email):
Ownership: public or private?
Listed on the National Register or within a Historic District?
What are the challenges to the building; what rehabilitation does it need? (ie code compliance, structural/seismic issues, storefront, etc.):
What impact would its rehabilitation have on the district?

Our goal is to have an example for each state legislator's district so they understand the importance of an RTC to their constituents. I know there is a lot on your plates, but your response by June 6th would be appreciated. Thank you so much!

Peggy
