Subject: [OMS_MANAGERS] Do you have a highway through your downtown?

Constance Beaumont with TGM is writing an article on efforts to make street design standards less auto-centric and more supportive of Main Streets. She is looking for examples of:

* conflicts between Main Streets and road standards -- e.g., speeds, placement of street trees (vs. "clear zones"), transportation performance standards such as Level-of-Service and Volume-to-Capacity ratios, lane width requirements, etc?) -- and the resolution of such conflicts

* successes selected Oregon cities have achieved in improving the design of streets, especially in downtowns and Main Street areas

Please share any examples, good or not so good, with me and I will forward to Constance.

Thanks for your help!
