NMSC Webinar on Year-End Gifts
On September 17, 2015, we presented an hour-long webinar<http://email.tactiledesigngroup.com/t/r-l-ziyirtt-duurpihi-h/> for the National Main Street Center titled, “Why Aren’t You Asking for Year End Gifts?<http://email.tactiledesigngroup.com/t/r-l-ziyirtt-duurpihi-k/>” A recording of the webinar is archived on the NMSC website and is free to listen to for Main Street Center organizational members. Here is the link to the webinar<http://email.tactiledesigngroup.com/t/r-l-ziyirtt-duurpihi-u/>.
We also included a handy planning calendar<http://email.tactiledesigngroup.com/t/r-l-ziyirtt-duurpihi-o/> , an outline for direct mail letters<http://email.tactiledesigngroup.com/t/r-l-ziyirtt-duurpihi-b/>, and a series of ten compelling facts<http://email.tactiledesigngroup.com/t/r-l-ziyirtt-duurpihi-n/> about why you should be asking for year-end gifts. NMSC blog post: Get Ready to Ask for Year-End Gifts
As a follow-up to our webinar for the Main Street Center, we wrote a highly useful blog post <http://email.tactiledesigngroup.com/t/r-l-ziyirtt-duurpihi-x/> to augment the extensive material we have already published<http://email.tactiledesigngroup.com/t/r-l-ziyirtt-duurpihi-m/> on the topic of year-end gifts. Strategic Plans Galore
We continue to prepare strategic plans for downtown clients as we have for the last five years. In Philadelphia, the Roxborough Development Corporation<http://email.tactiledesigngroup.com/t/r-l-ziyirtt-duurpihi-e/> completed their strategic plan, Roxborough 2020<http://email.tactiledesigngroup.com/t/r-l-ziyirtt-duurpihi-s/>, in a record time of five months. They also had an exceptional rate of response to their online consumer and stakeholder survey with more than 600 responses within a three-week period. See their final Strategic Plan<http://email.tactiledesigngroup.com/t/r-l-ziyirtt-duurpihi-g/> here. A Main Street New Jersey client Lawrenceville Main Street<http://email.tactiledesigngroup.com/t/r-l-ziyirtt-duurpihi-w/>, near Princeton, NJ, completed their strategic plan <http://email.tactiledesigngroup.com/t/r-l-ziyirtt-duurpihi-yd/> in early spring. Currently, we are working with the Downtown West Orange Alliance<http://email.tactiledesigngroup.com/t/r-l-ziyirtt-duurpihi-yh/>, another Main Street New Jersey town, to complete their strategic plan for the New Year. Italian Market Business Improvement District Planning
The thriving commercial district along South 9th Street and Washington Avenue, from where the broader Italian Market area originates, is in the midst of studying the start-up of a Business Improvement District<http://email.tactiledesigngroup.com/t/r-l-ziyirtt-duurpihi-yu/>. We are serving as an advisor to the South 9th Street Business Association <http://email.tactiledesigngroup.com/t/r-l-ziyirtt-duurpihi-jl/> in this effort which is about midway through its planning. A public meeting to discuss the prospective BID plan is scheduled for November 12, 2015 at 5:30PM in St. Maron’s Church Hall, located at 1013 Ellsworth Street, Philadelphia, PA.

North 5th Street Revitalization Project Capacity Building
Located in the Olney neighborhood, one of Philadelphia’s most linguistically diverse communities is the mile and half long North 5th Street commercial corridor, home to more than 340 businesses. Founded almost ten years ago, the North 5th Street Revitalization Project<http://email.tactiledesigngroup.com/t/r-l-ziyirtt-duurpihi-jr/> manages a five-day, weekly cleaning program, a business association, and a contract with the City of Philadelphia’s corridor management program. We are assisting the staff in building their organizational capacity through the creation of a volunteer committee system, work plans and the establishment of an Advisory Board. We have already provided writing for their new website and other systems in preparation for the growth of their organization and fundraising base as they expand their revitalization efforts.

Talking “Trash” at the Main Street Conference
We are excited about the opportunity to speak at the upcoming National Main Street Center conference in Milwaukee <http://email.tactiledesigngroup.com/t/r-l-ziyirtt-duurpihi-jy/> next year. Our speaking proposal called Taking Trash: 25 Strategies to Make It Disappear was accepted as a crash course. Alex Balloon, the Tacony CDC manager (and former HCI intern) will join us in this presentation as we provide strategies for addressing “the casual littering, overflowing dumpsters, short dumping in vacant lots, unswept sidewalks, and household trash in public waste baskets, that make up the wretched refuse of downtown work.” If you will be in Milwaukee for the conference in May, drop by and say hi!

New interns
Each summer we hire several graduate school interns to help us with client work. The goal of the internship is to expose students to historic preservation and community revitalization projects by undertaking real work for clients with our guidance and supervision. This year we welcome Audrey von Ahrens<http://email.tactiledesigngroup.com/t/r-l-ziyirtt-duurpihi-jj/>, Jennifer Carr Robinson <http://email.tactiledesigngroup.com/t/r-l-ziyirtt-duurpihi-jt/> and Eryn Boyce <http://email.tactiledesigngroup.com/t/r-l-ziyirtt-duurpihi-ji/> to our practice. View their LinkedIn profiles by clicking on their names.
