We are getting really excited here in The Dalles for the Oregon Main Street
Conference! I hope you all take some time to check out the program that
Sheri just sent out, it is looking great!

I wanted to briefly follow up with everyone regarding the idea of attendees
bringing baskets/auction items that represent your community to be used in
our auction at Main Street Uncorked Taste of Downtown on Friday night.

Our printer is getting ready to produce the cards that will go next to each
auction item. If you can send me your description of your basket/auction
item I will be sure to get it to him for printing. Thank you!

Good Afternoon Everyone,

The Dalles is primed and ready to go for the Oregon Main Street State
Conference in October and we can't wait to share our community with you! We
have lined-up historic venues for breakout sessions, cast a colorful bunch
of local characters to lead walking/driving tours, inspired the business
community to roll out the red carpet, and much, much more!

A unique aspect of this year's conference, of which there are many, is that
our primary fundraiser is held on the second Friday every October (making
October quite the month for us!). This year's event is titled, "*Main
Street Uncorked, Tastes of Downtown*." We're especially excited for this
year's venue, the historic Elks Building, which is currently undergoing
renovation to become the National Neon Sign Museum! *Uncorked *will have
all kinds of "tastes" from food, wine, and chocolate to culture and
history. We'll also be unveiling our strategic direction to the community
prior to the event and expect quite the turn out to hear our vision forward
for downtown The Dalles.

With this, we would like to invite each of you to the event and celebrate
with us a year of accomplishments, the unveiling of the iconic Elks
Building, and the culmination of an exciting conference. We're still
working on all the details and will release more information shortly.

However, our Uncorked Event Task Squad would like to begin a new tradition
for the Oregon Main Street Conference. *As a benefit to The Dalles, but
also to future OMS Conference hosts, we thought it would be wonderful if
the attending Main Street Programs brought items or baskets from their home
downtown's to be used by the hosting Main Street program as auction items. *

The thought is that auction items from all around the State would not only
help cross promote our fellow downtown programs, businesses etc., but would
also bring unique, highly sought after items that can help us and future
conference hosts raise a little money for our respective
organizations.There is no pressure to participate and anything we receive
we'll truly be grateful.

For those interested and willing to help us out, we're asking you to bring
a basket of goodies or other auction items to be used during *Main Street
Uncorked, Tastes of Downtown *event. We hope this starts a tradition of
Main Street's helping Main Street while also supporting the hosting
community.

Please let us know if you'd be willing to organize something *by September
1st. *Should you have any questions just give Main Street Matt a call!
