Applications Now Open for Oregon Tourism Studio Programs
The Oregon Tourism Studio is Travel Oregon’s premier destination development program designed to help communities grow a robust and sustainable tourism economy by offering hands-on planning and product development workshops rich with information and networking opportunities.
By supporting communities to create diverse, authentic experiences for travelers, Travel Oregon aims to enhance community vitality, contribute to a healthy environment and strengthen Oregon’s position as a prominent travel destination.
Travel Oregon is currently accepting applications through February 26, 2016<https://t.e2ma.net/click/xpdwn/5f3f3c/lwqhyf> to have your community, or region, be considered to participate in an Oregon Tourism Studio.
The Oregon Tourism Studio boasts three distinct programs tailored to meet your community’s needs, readiness and tourism niche market strengths. Programs include:
* Rural Tourism Studio<https://t.e2ma.net/click/xpdwn/5f3f3c/1orhyf>
* Bicycle Tourism Studio<https://t.e2ma.net/click/xpdwn/5f3f3c/hhshyf>
* Culinary & Agritourism Studio<https://t.e2ma.net/click/xpdwn/5f3f3c/x9shyf>
"Tourism in Oregon is a $10.3 billion industry, which directly generates more than 101,000 jobs," said Todd Davidson, CEO of Travel Oregon. "The Oregon Tourism Studio was developed to support communities across the state by providing tools and training to help bolster tourism at a local level."
Since its inception in 2009, Oregon Tourism Studios have been delivered across the state, engaging over 1500 participants, resulting in:
* Stronger collaborative working relationships for tourism, because of revitalized Chambers of Commerce, new regional branding and philanthropic resources leveraged
* New tourism business development initiatives, including bicycle outfitting and repair businesses, farm-and ranch-based events and restaurants
* New tourism infrastructure, such as bike maps, bike racks and a successful “We Speak” initiative to develop expert tourism ambassadors among front-line workers
* Empowered communities that have developed new relationships and networks
Oregon Tourism Studio success stories are highlighted in the Communities Powered by Travel video series (available to view below).

The Oregon Tourism Studio programs are completely community-based with curriculum that fosters participant-centered learning to facilitate local ideas and strategies. Travel Oregon focuses efforts on leveraging the community’s current assets, rather than what is missing. By developing authentic tourism products utilizing existing assets, the Studios help ensure the preservation of Oregon’s way of life and its natural places.
The Oregon Tourism Studio program has been recognized internationally for its leadership in sustainable tourism development due to the best-practices approach in empowering local community participants to take the lead on forming the steering committees, assisting in curriculum design, conducting stakeholder engagement and outreach, and project implementation following the program.
